Pace Football
After filling an interim role this past season, Anthony Walker Sr. has been named the new head football coach at Monsignor Pace High School on a permanent basis.
Walker, the school’s Dean of Students, served as the junior varsity football coach under head coach Joe Zaccheo from 2002-05, before being promoted to varsity quarterbacks coach in 2006. In 2007 he was named offensive coordinator under new head coach Alvin Slaughter and remained in that role until 2016.
Players who Walker tutored during his coaching tenure include current University of Miami assistant coach Demarcus Van Dyke, Kayvon Webster (a Super Bowl winner with the Denver Broncos), former UM quarterback Steven Morris and his son, Anthony Walker Jr. (a starting linebacker for the Cleveland Browns).
“I’m excited to be back and to be the head football coach at Pace,” Walker said. “This is a place that is very close to my heart, and I look forward to continuing the Pace Pride tradition and extending the Pace prestigious legacy.”
