Florida Christian, Westminster Christian fare well at volleyball tournaments. Plus more results

Florida Christian was second of 12 teams in its Florida Christian Invitational Girls’ Volleyball Tournament.

The Patriots (14-7) beat Killian, Coral Reef and Palmetto. Lourdes defeated Florida Christian 25-19, 25-13 in the finals.

Florida Christian’s Mikaela King was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Florida Christian d. Coral Reef 18-25, 25-22, 15-11: Sophia Viera 12 points, 3 aces, 2 digs; Frances Vinuela 6 kills, 2 digs; Sophia Valle 8 digs, 6 points.

Florida Christian d. Palmetto 25-17, 25-23: Mikaela King 11 points, 2 aces, 4 kills, 5 digs; Hannah Mira 8 points, 2 aces, 2 digs; Andrea Amador 5 kills, 1 block.

Westminster Christian volleyball

Westminster Christian upset Ponte Vedra 18-25, 25-14, 15-13 in the Venice High School Volleyball Tournament.

Ponte Vedra is ranked No.1 in Florida and No.2 in the Nation via MaxPreps.

The Warriors (14-4) also beat (Ocala) Vanguard, Community School of Naples and Mater Academy Charter. They lost to (Alachua) Sante Fe.

Westminster Christian’s Gaby Arroyo and Emily Matias were named to the All Tournament Team.

Standout performances also from Alyah Cadavid, Lamaya Fuller, Gigi Artiles, Zoey Matias, Alyssa Cadavid, Paige Anderson, Bella Artiles.
