Columbus boys, Palmer Trinity girls, Nick Prieto big winners at Miami Youth Fair golf outing
Palmer Trinity edged Carrollton by one stroke to win the Miami Dade County Youth Fair Girls’ Golf Tournament at Country Club of Miami.
The Falcons scored 336. Carrollton 337. SLAM was third at 356.
Remi Bacardi led Palmer Trinity with 71 to win the individual title. Dariana Breto of SLAM was runner-up at 72, followed by Fernanda Carrion of Carrollton at 73.

Boys’ Golf Tournament
Florida Christian’s Nick Prieto and the Columbus boys’ golf team were the big winners of the Miami Dade County Youth Fair Boys’ Golf Tournament at Country Club of Miami.
All five Explorers golfers placed in the Top 10 to capture the team title.
Junior Andres Atrio of Columbus recorded six birdies to tie for first at 68 with Prieto, forcing a playoff, which Prieto, also a junior, won.
On the first playoff hole, each golfer parred. On the second playoff hole, Prieto hit a driver 269 yards on the short Par 4 to within seven feet of the pin. After Atrio birdied, Prieto drained the close putt for eagle to clinch the individual title.
Sophomore Jackson Langer of third place Ransom Everglades was third at 69.
Doral took runner-up honors.
