Belen Jesuit cross country, Columbus golf fare well. Plus football and volleyball results
The Columbus boys’ golf team won the All Catholic tri-match against Archbishop McCarthy and St. Thomas Aquinas.
The winning Explorers were led by Hans Risvaer, who shot a 3-under (68) and Justo “Andres” Atrio, who shot a 3-over (74).

Columbus followed up by competing in the Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Bradenton against some of the top-ranked teams from the west side of the state.
After a 30-minute rain delay, the Explorers shot a combined 287 for 1-under as a team in its first time playing the course.
They tied host Lakewood Ranch High School for first to force a dramatic one-hole team playoff.
It was quite the atmosphere for high school golf with a huge gallery of Lakewood supporters. Lakewood won the playoff by one stroke.
Justo “Andres” Atrio birdied the playoff hole, and his teammates each made par. Lakewood’s top two players each birdied to clinch the title.
Prior to the playoff hole, Atrio placed third, and teammate Hans Risvaer fifth. Sebastian Kawas of Columbus also made the Top 10 in ninth. Christian Figueredo and freshman Victor Herrera tied for 15th.

Cross country
The Belen Jesuit boys’ cross-country team has been impressive, displaying a lot of depth while winning invitationals this season.
The Wolverines continued to run well at the 39th Spanish River Invitational at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, but this time Viera finished first with 45 points, just three points better than runner-up Belen in the Class 3A/4A Division.
The field included 35 teams and more than 300 runners.
Belen senior Adam Magoulas was the overall individual champion, adding another first place medal/ribbon to his collection this season. He completed the 3.1-mile course in 14 minutes and 57 seconds, a course record and a meet record.
His time is also the fastest in Florida high school cross country this season.
Teammate Joshua Ruiz, a sophomore, was third in 15:29.11.
Junior Zack Zimmerman of Fort Lauderdale High School was eighth in 16:03.11.
Sophomore Evan Torres of Belen placed ninth at 16:04.49. Senior Gabriel Garcia of Braddock was 10th in 16:07.32.
Columbus senior Nicholas Ivonnet was 11th in 16:10.37. Ryan Sarafoglu, a junior at Coral Reef, was 12th in 16:10.90. Sophomore Alejandro Romagosa also of Columbus was 16th in 16:40.58.
St. Thomas Aquinas junior Martin Goodwin was 17th in 16:17.07, and Boyd Anderson junior Johnathan Petit-Frere was 18th in 16:19.76.
Marco de la Hoz, another junior from Belen, was 19th in 16:20.24. Junior teammate Alec Torricella was 21st in 16:27.67.
Columbus was third with 90 points. Freshman Anthony Scarcello and sophomore Daniel Garcia were 23rd and 24th, respectively, in 16:36.69 and 16:40.21.

Belen will compete Friday at the Dade County Youth Fair Championships at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami.
In Class 1A boys at the Spanish River Invitational, Palmer Trinity was first of 14 teams with 27 points. The Falcons placed four runners in the Top 5 of 118 runners.
