The Gulliver Prep girls’ cross-country team won the King of the Hill Invitational with 47 points, five points ahead of runner-up St. Brendan. Our Lady of Lourdes was third of 14 teams with 66 points.
Sophomore Ashley Fitzgerald of Plantation American Heritage was the individual winner in 19 minutes, 19.11 seconds at Tropical Park in Miami.
Junior Emma Hencock of St. Brendan was second of 128 runners in 19:32.58, followed by Gulliver Prep senior Nina Starvaggi (20:48.11) and St. Brendan teammates Gabriela Page (freshman, 21:09.30) and Daniela Alvarez (junior, 21:09.66).
Senior Sabrina Gomez of Sunset was sixth in 21:11.4, and Madison Munroe (21:34.22), a Ransom Everglades senior, was seventh.
Gulliver Prep senior teammates Kyra Gardner (21:39.42) and Olivia Torres (21:41.26) were eighth and ninth, respectively. Senior Julia Alvarez Drago of Coral Reef was 10th in 21:51.33.
Golf
The Belen Jesuit boys finished fifth of 14 teams in the 2021 Jenkins Invitational at The Club at Eaglebrook in Lakeland.
Leading the Wolverines were freshman Lorenzo Rodríguez and senior Sebastián Barcia, who shot a 73 and tied for seventh of 85 golfers.
