American Heritage, Carrollton, Gulliver, MCD, Palmetto, Pine Crest, Ransom win tennis titles
In the final match of the District 14-2A Tournament, Katelyn Gramanzini and Grace Odom-Montbrun clinched the team title for the American Heritage girls’ tennis team.
They defeated Cookie Zaki and Katherine Minielly of Pine Crest at No.2 doubles, giving the Patriots the title, 15-13. Odom-Montbrun also won a district title at No.3 singles and Gramanzini at No.4 singles. Teammate Jackie Daynovsky won a district title at No.5 singles.
The champs also feature Natalie Block, Sangee Prieto and first alternate Livia Kaufman.
Pine Crest led 10-9, entering the second day of the two-day event.
Akasha Urhobo of Pine Crest defeated Daniela Porgues of University School for the No.1 singles title, but Porgues regrouped to team with Ava Grnja for the No.1 doubles title over Urhobo and Hanna Elks-Smith. Urhobo (singles) and Porgues and Grnja (doubles) qualified for state.
On the boys’ side, Pine Crest captured the team title. All matches in the finals were Pine Crest vs. American Heritage with Pine Crest sweeping. The champs are Jameson Corsillo, Andrew Pereverzev, Kenneth Chan, Jason Berinstein, Krisztian Meszaros, Jonathan Fromkin.
Corsillo defeated Daniel Naylor of American Heritage in the No.1 singles final, and Corsillo joined forces with Pereverzev to defeat Naylor and Elliot Starkman for the No.1 doubles title. Corsillo (singles and doubles) and Pereverzev (doubles) automatically reach state.
American Heritage girls, coached by Toby Croke, and Pine Crest boys, coached by Kasey Hamaway, advance to the region semifinals against Jensen Beach.

District 16-4A
The traditionally strong Palmetto girls’ and boys’ tennis teams won titles.
Palmetto’s Nathalie van der Reis won at No.1 singles to advance to the state finals. She later teamed with Jett Coetzee to win at No.1 doubles to also reach state in doubles.
The Palmetto boys’ team won the team title after the first day of the two-day event. The battle for second was very close with Coral Gables finishing runner-up.
Julen Morgan from Ferguson won at No.1 singles to advance to the state finals and teamed with Kenden Aguilera to win at No.1 doubles to reach state in doubles, too.
The Panthers girls’ and boys’ teams, coached by Kelly Gibson, advance to the region semifinals against Miami Beach on Tuesday.

Seventh grader Sasha Kilgour of Riviera Prep and Sam Gelber of Ransom Everglades each qualified for state at No.1 singles. Jimena and Julieta Menendes of Carrollton, and Gelber and Xander Lake of Ransom Everglades will play at state at No.1 doubles.

Gulliver Prep swept district titles in the boys’ and girls’ divisions. The Raiders, coached by Kelly Mulligan, will compete in the region semifinals.
In girls, Isabella Rojas of LaSalle won at No.1 singles and teamed with Marianna Naranjo to win at No.1 doubles. They advanced to state.
In boys, Nicolas Rebelledo of MAST is the champion at No.1 singles, and Pierce Garbett and Eric Brook of Gulliver Prep teamed to win at No.1 doubles, and those three players qualified for state.
