Shapiro takes over South Broward football; Haymore and K. Sanders lead Gulliver girls

Even though he went 6-4 in his first year and made the playoffs, that wasn’t enough for South Broward High School football coach Anthony Collins to keep his position as South Broward parted ways with Collins last week. The school in turn announced Wednesday its new coach.

Josh Shapiro, who spent the past two seasons as head coach at Cypress Bay, will now return to head up a Bulldogs program he coached in 2013-14. Shapiro began his football coaching career at Everglades High School where was the head coach for six seasons, (2007-12) before coming over to South Broward.

He served as the Bulldogs athletic director in 2015-16 before moving over to Cypress Bay where he replaced legendary Mark Guandolo.

“We decided we just needed to move in a different direction,” said South Broward athletic director Boomer Bray. “We’re excited to have Josh back over here and on board to take South Broward football to the next level.”
