Gulliver Prep has been a mainstay in the Class 2A boys’ soccer field in recent years.

The Raiders, winners of five consecutive district titles and won back-to-back state championships in 2014 and 2015, will look to continue that success under new leadership.

Gulliver Prep announced Monday it has hired former professional soccer player Chris Bart-Williams as its new head coach.

“After a national search for a new coach, we selected Bart-Williams based on his incredible professional experience and dedication for teaching the game and being a mentor for young adults,” Gulliver Prep athletic director Mark Schusterman said. “We’re confident his abilities and approach are in line with our school’s mission of providing opportunities for our students to achieve the highest level of academic and athletic success.”

Bart-Williams, 44, played for seven clubs over a 16-year career as a midfielder and defender. He made his Premier League debut at age 16. The Sierra Leone native scored 52 career goals in 449 career games with clubs such as Leyton Orient, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Charlton and Ipswich, among others.
