A budding rivalry between unlikely competitors once again came down to the wire.

Westminster Academy outscored Miami Norland 17-9 in the fourth quarter as the Lions rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat Miami Norland 56-54 at the MLK Classic at Grandview Prep in Boca Raton on Monday.

The Lions (12-4), winners of eight consecutive games, have defeated the Vikings (11-4) twice by four combined points the past two seasons. Norland won the first meeting by three points three seasons ago.

Westminster began chipping away at the deficit and took a 49-46 lead after back-to-back three-pointers by Chase Johnston with just under six minutes remaining.

After the Vikings regained the lead at 53-51 with 3:43 to play, Westminster took the lead back on a basket from senior guard Zach Scott tying the score and later a pair of free throws for a 55-53 lead with 1:54 remaining.

After Anthony Atkinson gave Westminster a two-point cushion at 56-54 on a free throw with 15.0 to play, Norland had a chance to send the game into overtime or take the lead. The opportunity never came as Westminster forced a turnover to end the game.

Scott led the Lions with 20 points, and Johnston finished with 12. Omar Rolle led the Vikings with 12 points, and Reece Wilkinson added 11 points.
