Belen, Ferguson secure Jr. Orange Bowl cross-country titles

Belen Jesuit is enjoying another stellar cross-country season.

On Saturday, the Wolverines secured another major meet championship by winning the Junior Orange Bowl Invitational at Larry and Penny Thompson Park.

Senior Joshua Collins won the individual title with a time of 15:57.74.

On the girls’ side, Ferguson won the team title with 43 points to finish ahead of runner-up Ransom Everglades. Mater Academy sophomore Valerie Lastra ran a time of 19:34.30 to win the girls’ individual title. Individual runner-up Lisa Adjouadi was Ferguson’s top finisher with a time of 19:57.75.

FOOTBALL

▪ Everglades 19, Flanagan 14: Trinten Gray totaled eight carries for 70 yards and a touchdown to lead the Gators to the district victory. Jaykus Johnson 10 carries for 63 yards. Vamir Cadet had 10 carries for 52 yards and completed 8 of 22 passes for 79 yards. Tommy Govan had four tackles (three for loss) and a sack.

▪ Pine Crest 14, La Salle 12: Kamran Kadivar threw a pair of touchdown passes to help the Panthers erase a 12-0 deficit. Kadivar finished with 187 yards passing and 87 rushing.

▪ Kings Academy 27, Gulliver 21: Christopher Calero had 21 tackles and D’Sean Perry had 12 tackles and two sacks for the Raiders.
