First time champions prevail at GMAC golf
A couple of first-time champions prevailed in Monday’s GMAC golf tournament held at the Redland Golf and Country Club.
Coral Reef’s Anthony Amoroso won the boys’ title and Dr. Krop’s Emily Palmeiro secured the girls’ title.
Amoroso shot a score of 71 on the boys’ side to edge Columbus’ Roberto Nieves, who shot 73. Columbus took home the team title with an overall score of 312.
Palmeiro won her first GMAC title after shooting a 73 to edge Palmetto’s Alexa Rivas by two strokes. No girls’ team title was awarded since no participating team had the required four players to have a team score recorded.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Gulliver volleyball defeated Ferguson 25-8, 25-18 to win the Florida Christian Invitational on Saturday.
The Raiders beat Palmetto and LaSalle on Friday and then Lourdes Academy Saturday afternoon to advance to the final.
In the final, Gulliver won the first set led by Isa Lamus and Lauren Potter on the attack. Carly Wood had 19 assists, while Lamus had 5 blocks and 10 kills, with Potter contributing 12 kills.
Potter was named MVP while Lamus made the All-Tournament team.
Riviera Prep took third place in the tournament led by setter and outside hitter Aryanah Diaz, who also made the All-Tournament team.
