Aquinas, Heritage, Gibbons coaches are Broward Girls’ Soccer Coaches of the Year
St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage and Cardinal Gibbons’ girls’ soccer teams took their dominance to a high level this season.
The three Broward County powerhouses all reached the state finals in their respective divisions and achieved high national rankings.
American Heritage and St. Thomas Aquinas each added to their vast collection of state championships while Gibbons was unbeaten all the way to the state final.
Their coaches are the Miami Herald’s Broward County Girls’ Soccer Coaches of the Year for the 2025-26 season.
St. Thomas Aquinas’ Bryan Hantak saw his team’s gradual build back to championship status come to fruition when the Raiders won the Class 6A crown. After coming up painfully short in the state final a year earlier, Aquinas secured its first state title since 2017 and its state-leading 16th overall following a 1-0 win over Niceville.
Hantak is the Coach of the Year for Classes 7A-5A after being able to lead his program’s resurgence in recent years. Aquinas finished the season ranked No. 4 nationally by MaxPreps.
For Classes 4A-1A, American Heritage’s Cindy Marcial and Cardinal Gibbons’ Margo Flack share the honor.
Marcial is no stranger to this award as she is at the forefront of one of the most dominant programs in the country.
The Patriots are likely on their way to being voted national champions for the second consecutive season after going unbeaten at 18-0-1 and extending their undefeated streak to 31 consecutive matches.
American Heritage cruised its way to its 15th state title all-time and fourth in a row, giving the Patriots their second run of four in a row in program history.
Flack helped Cardinal Gibbons become one of the most dominant teams in Class 3A this season, thanks to one of the stingiest defenses in the state.
The Chiefs went 20-0-2 before falling in the state final against Montverde Academy. But Gibbons dominated its competition with a balanced squad that should be in prime position to challenge for its first state title since 2021 once again next season.
