Andrew Indorf took over as St. Thomas Aquinas’ quarterback two years ago with the pressure of expectations on his shoulders and the responsibility to make the Raiders look a little bit different after they won four straight state championships with a pair of dual-threat quarterbacks.

Indorf was a throwback for St. Thomas Aquinas—a traditional dropback passer in a sport increasingly drifting away from that type of player.

Indorf didn’t just make the shift work for the Raiders. He had one of the best two-year runs in the program’s storied history and now is the Miami Herald’s Broward County Offensive Player of the Year for Classes 7A-5A.

In his two years as the starter in Fort Lauderdale, Indorf threw for 5,141 yards and 50 touchdowns. Add in some of his production as a backup when he was an underclassman, and Indorf broke school records for passing yards and touchdowns. With two more state titles in Indorf’s two years as a starter, St. Thomas Aquinas built on its state record of consecutive championships and has now won six in a row.

“As a quarterback, you have to be a leader,” Indorf said. “When we lost, that improved my ability to lead the team because when everyone’s down on themselves, you’ve got to pick them right back up.”

Winning and production isn’t unusual for the Raiders. What made Indorf’s run special was his ability to keep winning despite setbacks.

In 2024, St. Thomas Aquinas lost three games for the first time in seven seasons, wasn’t ranked nationally going into the state title game, and trailed in the second half of both the Region 4-5A championship and Class 5A state semifinals before Indorf came to the rescue.

Indorf threw two game-tying touchdowns in the Raiders’ double-overtime win against Delray Beach Atlantic in the region finals and a game-winning touchdown in the state semis against Bradenton Manatee. The senior finished the year 226 of 328 for 2,868 yards, 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and also ran for 317 yards and eight touchdowns on 32 carries.

After leading St. Thomas Aquinas threw adversity to get to the state championship, the Raiders made quick work of frequent foe Lakeland once they got there, with Indorf going 13 of 19 for 159 yards, one touchdown and one interception, with another rushing touchdown, in the 34-0 rout in Miami.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound quarterback, however, remains uncommitted, still looking for a college home where he can try to keep doing what he does best and win some more games.

“It definitely brought me the consistency and really the value of winning, and how much work you need to put in to win,” Indorf said. “All I have to do is continue that winning at the next level, continue to win every day, every second of life.”
