St. Brendan’s Victoria Sicre is the Miami-Dade cheerleading coach of the year
For more than a decade, St. Brendan has been one of the powerhouses of competitive cheerleading in the state of Florida.
And after a rare down year in 2023 when they only finished in second place, the Sabres found itself back in its usual spot this year as a state champion. It was their eighth overall state title, the most by any team from Miami-Dade or Broward Counties.
That’s why their coach, Victoria Sicre, is the Miami Herald’s Miami-Dade coach of the year.
This year, St. Brendan won its title while competing in the Class 1A extra-large tumbling division. Their team of 26 put together a routine that earned a score of 93.70, the highest of any team across all 21 divisions at the state meet Feb. 2-3 in Lakeland.
Since 2013, St. Brendan has finished either first or second in its division at state every year except once.
The Sabres won seven consecutive state titles from 2016-2022 — tied for the fifth-longest streak of consecutive state cheerleading titles won — before finishing as runner-up in 2023.
They got back to the top of the podium in 2024.
