St. Thomas Aquinas’ Jordan Lyle is the Broward 4M-3M Offensive Player of the Year
Expectations are always high at St. Thomas Aquinas, but especially last year.
With a chance to win a state-record fifth state championship and an inexperienced quarterback taking over, the Raiders needed their veterans to step up on offense and no one did it better than Jordan Lyle.
After totaling more than 1,500 yards from scrimmage and helping St. Thomas Aquinas make history with a fifth straight state championship, Lyle is the Miami Herald’s Broward County Offensive Player of the Year for Classes 4M-3M.
For the first four years of this run of Raiders titles, St. Thomas Aquinas leaned heavily on dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks Zion Turner and Champ Harris, who played at UConn and Navy, respectively last year. In 2023, junior quarterback Andrew Indorf took over and the foundations of the Raiders’ offense changed. Lyle made it all work and St. Thomas Aquinas finished the season on a 14-game winning streak to claim the Class 3M title.
The running back, who signed with Miami last month after flipping his commitment from Ohio State, ran for 1,376 yards and 21 touchdowns on 130 carries, and added 13 catches for 177 yards and another touchdown. He finished second in Broward in rushing yards behind only South Broward’s Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, who also signed with the Hurricanes last month.
Lyle, a finalist for the annual CBS Nat Moore Trophy, was the top running back in South Florida for the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
“Being the next great running back coming through the University of Miami, that was a dream of mine growing up,” Lyle said after signing his national letter of intent with Miami last month. “As long as I can do that and fulfill my promise to my coaches and my parents, I feel like that’ll make me happy.”
No matter what he does in Coral Gables, Lyle has already left a lasting legacy in Florida, after being part of four state championships with the Raiders.
