Welcome Tyrus: horses lure this 6-7 WWE alum and Fox News staple to South Florida
If you see a 6-foot-7, 350-pound man on horseback in Wellington, don’t be surprised.
It’s probably WWE alum Brodus Clay, who has reached new heights in his career as Tyrus, a former NWA champion featured on the No.1 late night talk show “Gutfeld!” on the Fox News channel.
Actually, you’re more likely to see his daughter, Georgie, riding horses in the area as she is competing/training in show jumping in Wellington. the equine capital of the world.
As for Tyrus, a new Wellington resident, he is more than just your above average, everyday pro wrestling behemoth; he is articulate, smart, opinionated, funny, a good communicator who interviewed President Trump. He can also play golf and took to the fairways/greens in Miami with former pro boxing champ “Iron” Mike Tyson. Bodyguarding Snoop Dogg also listed on this unique resume.
A New York Times Best Selling author, too, he spends 4 1/2 days a week in New York, working on “Gutfeld” and then the remainder of the week in sunny South Florida with his family.
Tyrus also hosts his own podcast “Planet Tyrus,” where he discusses life, culture and current events from his unique perspective as a former football player, bodyguard (for Snoop Dogg), WWE superstar, and Fox News commentator, focusing on issues relevant to men and culture. It’s essentially his world, a platform for his unfiltered opinions and personal stories, not an actual celestial body, with guests, including giving some of the voiceless a voice.
With all his accolades and accomplishments, he is most proud of being a good dad, doing that now from their new home in Wellington.
Here is my video interview with the 6-7 Tyrus, where we cover a lot of ground.
Moving to South Florida
His daughter, Georgie, 11, competes nationally in show jumping, which ignited the move to the area.
Wellington is a major hub for U.S. Equestrian (USEF) training and competition, hosting numerous designated training centers and events like the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and Global Dressage Festival (GDF), making it essentially the “Equestrian Capital of the World” for high-performance training and shows, with facilities like Diamante Farms and Wellington International serving as key locations for national team development.
Tyrus -- when he competed/entertained for the top pro wrestling company in the world, WWE -- lived near Tampa and enjoyed spending time in quieter, nearby St. Petersburg. Originally from Boston and then California, he later (after Tampa) moved to Louisiana, before settling on a farm in northern New Jersey.
When he, his wife, Ingrid, and their daughter. Georgie, (named after him - George Murdoch), traveled to Wellington for a show jumping event, they fell in love with the city. Thus, the move. The city reminded Tyrus of St. Petersburg.
A sports fan, especially baseball, he could see a Tampa Bay Rays game against his fav Boston Red Sox in St. Pete. Here in South Florida he can see the Red Sox during Spring Training when they compete at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
As for show jumping and training, Georgie began riding seriously with her horse, Roosevelt (nicknamed Teddy), in 2024.
Ingrid has two kids, sons Rhett and Rock, from a previous marriage. Tyrus has three children from three previous relationships.
Tyrus also tours, doing one-man stand-up shows, which are also doing well, and his podcast “Planet Tyrus” had a 21-percent increase in unique listeners month over month in December 2025.
Inspired by his daughter and her love for horses, Tyrus wrote a children’s book with his daughter titled “Georgie And Her Great Horse Adventures.”

A healthier Tyrus, who weighed 500 pounds, lost 130+-pounds to reach that 300-plus pound level. His goal is to leave “the 300-pound club” -- reaching a weight in the 200s.
