Local football coach has good reason to attend WWE NXT No Mercy in Fort Lauderdale

South Florida’s Tiana Caffey is WWE NXT Superstar Jaida Parker, a five-star WWE recruit.

She starred in softball and soccer — especially soccer — while attending Jensen Beach High School near her hometown Port St. Lucie.

She also longed to play for the school’s football team.

Her leg was strong. She could kick 40-yard field goals, and the football coach knew it.

But a girl on the boys’ tackle football team? Well, she had an in, or so she thought.

That coach was her dad, Tim Caffey.

Her football goal didn’t materialize, as coach Caffey put his foot down (pun intended).

Not because she was a girl.

Coach Caffey said Tiana committed for soccer as a sophomore to LSU, and he did not want her to jeopardize that scholarship if injured playing football.

Thus, Tiana did not get the chance to kick for the Jensen Beach High School football team during her high school days, but she did get to be part of the squad recently — named honorary team captain for the Falcons’ home game against Treasure Coast, a game Jensen Beach won 28-0.

Below is my audio interview with Coach Caffey.

Jensen Beach is 5-0 this season. Last season the Falcons finished second in the district, clinching a playoff spot where they lost to eventual state champion Plantation American Heritage in the first round.

This season’s team includes a female kicker, sophomore Savannah Long. She went 3 for 3 on extra points and booted a 27-yard field goal in Jensen Beach’s 44-8 win over Fort Pierce Westwood.

More about Jaida Parker/Tiana Caffey

Tiana Caffey, who competed for Lakeland FC, Space Coast United and Wellington FC, made the U.S. U17 girls’ national soccer team..

In 2013, she helped her travel softball team win the Florida ISA State Championship and the Senior League State Championship. In 2015, she was on a winning USSA national championship team.

She received a college scholarship to play soccer at LSU, where she starred for four seasons while earning a degree in Sports Administration with a concentration in business.

Caffey was not drafted by the NWSL women’s pro soccer league. That’s when she turned her attention to WWE, after being recruited. She signed with WWE in 2022 and reported to the WWE Performance Center, under the direction of Matt Bloom, Sara Amato and Shawn Michaels in Orlando.

Caffey fits the WWE talent mantra. She is athletic, tough, beautiful, can talk the talk and walk the walk, and connects with crowds.

As WWE NXT Superstar Jaida Parker, she ranked No. 90 of the top 250 female wrestlers in the PWI Women’s 250. In 2024, she was a surprise entrant in the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble in front of 70,000-plus fans at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL Indianapolis Colts.

Coach Caffey said: “Knowing my daughter and how hard she works, I’m not surprised at her success. She’s earned it.”

Coach Caffey and his wife, TIna, attended the WWE Royal Rumble to proudly watch their daughter.

They also make a short drive to the Havert L. Fenn Center when NXT comes to Fort Pierce.

Coach Caffey noted Parker’s nephew is a big WWE Bron Breakker fan. He’s a fan of his aunt, too.

Parker is a role model, proving hard work pays off.

Coach Caffey’s mantra: “God, family and whatever sport you play, you give it your all.”

WWE NXT No Mercy in Fort Lauderdale

The Caffeys will be at WWE NXT No Mercy on Saturday at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale. That is a night after a Jensen Beach footbal game at Port St. Lucie High School.

When ECW toured Florida periodically, the hardcore wrestling company made the War Memorial Auditorium its South Florida home. Now the ownership of the two-time NHL Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers took over the War Memorial Auditorium, renovating it, while also adding an ice hockey practice facility next to it.

At WWE NXT No Mercy, NXT Superstar Lola Vice, aka Miami’s Valerie Loureda, has her biggest match to date. She challenges WWE NXT Women’s Champ Jacy Jane (with Fallon Henley) of Fatal Influence for the title.

Plus, Champ Oba Femi will battle. Ricky Saints for the WWE NXT title.

WWE NXT North American Champ Ethan Page vs. Tavion Heights.

WWE Women’s Speed Champ Sol Ruca (with Zaria) vs. Lainey Reid.

Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe in a weaponized steel cage match.

Je’Von Evans vs. Josh Briggs.

And more.

WWE NXT, which frequently showcases South Florida locals Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice, is 8 p.m. Tuesdays on The CW, and the Caffeys and Jensen Beach High School football team are watching.

From wrestling to real estate

Did you know there is a former WWE NXT pro wrestler who is now a licensed realtor?

As a pro wrestler, he jss sold (moves) to some of the best in the ring nationally. Now he’s selling in a different way in South Florida.

Fulton, currently wrestling for Boca Raton Championhip Wrestling in South Florida, is also realtor Jacob Southwick. When wrestling for NXT, he was Sawyer Fulton, part of SAnitY.

After competing in TNA Wrestling (as Madman Fulton, part of OVE/Ohio Versus Everything) and making appearances for AEW, he obtained his real estate license with assistance from successful South Florida realtor Matthew Maschler.

Here’s their wrestling — real estate connection.

Maschler along with Neil Glazier are the co-founders of Boca Raton Championship Wrestling. While wrestling for BRCW, Fulton inquried about obtaining his real estate license, discussing it with Maschler.

Here is my video interview with Fulton/Jacob Southwick after a BRCW show, discussing wrestling and real estate and Pokemon.

Nelio Cuomo Costa and his crew from Pompano Beach-based Coastal Championship Wrestling help run the BRCW shows -- about four a year.

Fulton, 35, is from Toledo, Ohio. He attended NCAA Division II Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, where he was a former Greco-Roman All-American and a two-time NCAA All-American amateur wrestler.

Of course he’s already made a sale or two or three in his new profession. He’s 6-foot-8, 310 solid pounds, sporting dreadlocks and tatoos.

Who would dare say no?

BRCW’s November Knockdown is Sunday, Nov. 2 at the VIP Ballroom in (South Florida) Boca Raton. Ricky Morton of the legendary Rock-n-Roll Express battles his son Kerry, who turned on him, allowing TNA Wrestling International Champ Steve Maclin to become the new BRCW champion. Fulton will be there, too, and more.
