South Florida in July features indie shows, NXT, WWE and Florida Supercon. The amount of talent representing all levels makes for some solid mat action along with meet-n-greet opportunities.

-Platinum Pro in Pompano

Platinum Pro Wrestling is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Hall Post 142 at 171 SW 2nd St. in Pompano Beach.

New commissioner Flex Stud Magnum announced some matches.

PPW Silverweight Championship: Maxx Stardom vs. Treehouse Lee. (Saieve Al Sabah banned from the building).

Dynamite DiDi will defend her Starlight Championship against Jenna Van Muscles.

Battle of the Platinumweights: Big Kahuna Kahn with Coach Kiki Roberts vs. Gashouse Bruce Worley.

Silverweight Showcase: Dante Carter vs. Samuel C.

Doubles Division Championship: TECH (TC Read and Mike Monroe) with Gentleman Jim Sherbert vs. Cash and Flash (Derek Dominick and Max A Million).

Platinumweight Progression Championship: Jonny Vandal Ortagun, Chuckles The Clown, O'Shay Edwards, Sean Maluta, Barrington Hughes, and winner of Dez Griffin vs. C.J. O'Doyle with Fabulous Frank.

For the PPW Diamonds Division Title, Rocky Radley (Lea Nox) vs. Platinum Pro newcomer Sofia Castillo.

Bullrope Match: Larry Lane with Mr. Montoya vs. Chris Charger.


-CCW in Coral Springs

Coastal Championship Wrestling — featuring WWE alum MVP, Florida legend Tokyo Monster Kahagas and a ladder match — is Saturday at the Coral Springs Charter School Gym, 3205 N. University Dr. in Coral Springs.

Also, CCW Champ El Jefe Santos, CCW Women’s Champ Chelsea Durden, CCW Southeastern Champ Stryker Ramirez with Erik Effron, Cha Cha Charlie, Johnny Walker, Jake St. Patrick, and more.

In June, WWE alum Alberto Del Rio (Alberto el Patron), Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) and Hugo Savinovich were part of the CCW show.

After the main event teaming with his brother El Hijo de Dos Caras against Cha Cha Charlie and CCW Champ Santos, Alberto discussed working for CCW, teaming with his brother, his thoughts on Cha Cha Charlie and CCW Champ Santos, his busy schedule with projects like Combate Americas MMA, a telenovela and hosting a sightseeing show, his pro wrestling career winding down, thanking the fans, participating in Triplemania XXVI in August for AAA in Mexico where he is a hero and becoming a U.S. Citizen.

After her triple threat match with up-and-comer Chelsea Durden and Puerto Rico star Vanilla Vargas, Celeste talks about the match, reviewing her return match against standout Rachael Ellering, her Celestial Bodiez brand, World Cup Soccer, the Arnold Classic, Arnold Schwarzenegger, hair color in WWE.

Before doing Spanish commentary for CCW, Hugo talked about growing up in New York where he was a gang member, how pro wrestling saved him, working for his friend Pablo Marquez at CCW, managing some of the craziest wrestling personas, working 17 years for WWE, helping the youth, working for Lucha Underground and more.

He also discussed being the Gorgeous George of Puerto Rico, influenced by Muhammad Ali, managing the Original Sheik and Terry Funk, working for Vince McMahon, cutting his hair, being married to Wendi Richter, the WWF and MTV Rock-n-Wrestling connection, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Gordon Solie and more.

Hugo, who has spent 40 years in the business including 17 with WWE, runs wrestling shows in Orlando which helps troubled youth in the area..

-WWE alums HBK, Christian, Gangrel, Lawler, Mysterio, Stratus at Florida Supercon

WWE alums including Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio and Trish Stratus will be at Florida Supercon, which runs July 12-15 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.

WWE Hall of Famer Lita will not be able to attend, but WWE Hall of Famer Jerry The King Lawler will be there as well as more WWE alums, i.e. Christian and Gangrel of The Brood. Author Michael Kingston (Headlocked, WWE Comics), too.

HBK will only be there Saturday, July 14.

Fantasy Super Cosplay Wrestling, which features pro wrestling matches with trained pro wrestlers in cosplay, offers a show each day.

Impact Wrestling stars Brian Cage (also of Lucha Underground), Kiera Hogan, Caleb Konley and Diamante have been added to the line-up of FSCW. Diamante of LAX is indie wrestler Angel Rose, a FSCW regular. Su Yung, a new Impact Wrestling talent, is another FSCW mainstay.

New to the roster include Chelsea Green (Impact Wrestling alum Laurel Van Ness), Renee Michelle (WWE Mae Young Classic), Ian Maxwell, Rachel Bostic, Daylin, Salina de la Renta and Eddie Taurus.

-Gangrel's Wrestling Asylum in Dania

After participating in Florida Supercon, WWE alum Gangrel will travel a few miles south to host his own show at Gangrel's Wrestling Asylum at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at 1982 Tigertail Blvd., Building 9, in Dania Beach.

-WWE Monday Night Raw in Miami

WWE Monday Night Raw will be live on the USA Network on July 30 from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, home of WWE fan Udonis Haslem of the three-time NBA Champion Miami Heat.

Bell time is 7:30 p.m. The three-hour (plus) TV show begins at 8 p.m.





-WWE SmackDown in Fort Myers, Tampa, Orlando

WWE SmackDown house show (no TV) is Monday, July 30 from the Germain Arena in Fort Myers, home of the ECHL Florida Everblades.


WWE SmackDown Live also on the USA Network will be in Tampa on Tuesday, July 31 from the Amalie Arena, home of the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning.


WWE returns to Orlando on Tuesday, Aug. 7 for SmackDown Live on the USA Network from the Amway Center, home of the NBA Orlando Magic.
