World Cup Final tickets for Argentina vs Spain are most expensive in history
If you were thinking about making last-minute plans to travel to New Jersey and buy tickets for Sunday’s World Cup Final between Argentina and Spain, be ready to shell out an exorbitant amount of money.
According to ticket marketplace TickPick, Sunday’s World Cup Final is the most expensive U.S. sporting event on record, with an average purchase price of $11,327.
The biggest purchase on TickPick is currently two tickets in Section 115A, Row 21 for $28,479 a ticket ($56,958 total).
The cheapest ticket available as of Wednesday was going for $7,451 for a chance to see 39-year-old Lionel Messi and defending champion Argentina take on European champion Spain. The hype is deserved as it is the first-ever meeting in a World Cup Final between the reigning champion of Europe and South America.
It is also, presumably, the last World Cup game for Messi, who will be 43 years old the next time around.
Also likely adding to the demand is the list of celebrities scheduled to perform at the halftime and closing ceremonies, including Justin Bieber, Madonna, Jennifer Hudson, Shakira, Tom Cruise, Post Malone, Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, IShowSpeed and BTS, with a special appearance by Burna Boy and maestro Gustavo Dudamel
Here are the five most expensive tickets on record based on average purchase price:
2026 World Cup Final (Spain vs. Argentina): $11,327
2024 Super Bowl (San Francisco vs. Kansas City): $9,411
2021 Super Bowl (Tampa Bay vs. Kansas City): $7,313
2020 Super Bowl (Kansas City vs. San Francisco) $6,546
2026 NBA Finals Game 3 (New York vs. San Antonio): $6,308
