FIFA World Cup

See where and when Lionel Messi and Argentina will play in World Cup 2026

The 2026 World Cup schedule is set, but South Florida fans will have to wait until the knockout stage to see Lionel Messi and reigning World Cup champion Argentina in their hometown.

Argentina will not play any of its three opening-round matches at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

But if Argentina wins Group J (Argentina, Algeria, Austria, Jordan), it would play the Group H runner-up (Spain, Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay) at Hard Rock Stadium on July 3. If Argentina advances as the Group J runner-up, it would play on July 2 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The only other chance for Argentina to play in Miami Gardens would be if it is playing in the third-place match on July 11.

Argentina’s first-round matches will be played on Tuesday, June 16, against Algeria at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City; on Monday, June 22, against Austria at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and Saturday, June 27, also at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
