More than a game: Here is the schedule of events for the Orange Blossom Classic weekend

OBC Golf Tournament

Time: 11 a.m. Thursday

Location: Miami Lakes Golf Club, 7601 Miami Lakes Dr., Hialeah

Event: The Orange Blossom Classic weekend kicks off with a golf tournament. designed to fund-raise for Jackson State and Florida A&M. This year the golf experience is offered in conjunction with HBCU music mogul Cortez Bryant, on behalf of the Cortez Bryant Foundation. So, get your foursome, polish your clubs, put on your stylish gear and join in at the Orange Blossom Golf Tournament.

Careers in Sports and Entertainment Symposium

Time: Friday. Doors open at 8 a.m.; event starts at 9 a.m.

Location: St. Thomas University, 16401 NW 37th Ave., Miami Gardens

Event: The Orange Blossom Careers in Sports and Entertainment Symposium will bring together leading minds in the sports industry. This year it will explore the political and social impact in the sporting industry in “My Platform, My Voice.” On the campus of St. Thomas University and in the newly dedicated Benjamin L. Crump Center for Social Justice, the panelists will prompt in-depth discussions of the cutting-edge issues and the strategies to be an effective voice. This event includes networking opportunities for industry leaders and students designed to promote career growth and collaboration.

Welcome Reception and Kickoff Luncheon

Time: Friday. Cocktail reception at 11 a.m. Luncheon starts at noon.

Location: 19999 W. Country Club Dr., Aventura

Event: The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau is the proud sponsor of the Welcome Reception and Luncheon to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Year of the Woman. The event will honor amazing HBCU alumnae in sports, politics, and entertainment. This celebration confirms the importance of legacy and the power of women.

Battle of the Bands

Time: Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m. Start time at 6 p.m.

Location: Watsco Center, 1245 Dauer Dr., Coral Gables

Event: The Orange Blossom Classic Battle of the Bands is back with a remix of its own in an indoor multi-purpose arena on the grounds of the University of Miami. It’s sure to be a showcase of talent from local high school bands from the tri-county area seeking to receive the unanimous nod for the title of “Best Band in the Land.” Then brace yourself for an appearance from the mighty FAMU Marching 100s and the Jackson State Sonic Boom. The bands will thrill and entertain you as they set the stage in precision marching, musicianship and the heritage of HBCU Marching Bands. This event should get you hyped for the big game during the Orange Blossom Classic weekend.

Game-day Fan Fest

Time: Sunday. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Location: Hard Rock Stadium — 347 Don Shula Dr., Miami Gardens

Event: Which HBCU are you repping before the game?

Stop by the Fan Fest before heading into the stadium to enjoy the OBC Sponsors, amazing food from food trucks and great performances on the OBC Fan Fest Soundstage.

The Classic

Time: 3 p.m. Sunday.

Who: Florida A&M vs. Jackson State.

Last year: Jackson State defeated Florida A&M 7-6.
