Here’s a look at UCF’s #2020KnightVision recruiting class after National Signing Day
UCF head coach Josh Heupel added eight players to his #2020KnightVision recruiting class following Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
UCF already had 17 players signed from December’s early period.
On Wednesday, the Knights landed five high school players and three from colleges, including one Division I transfer with offensive lineman Marcus Tatum, who comes to the Orlando program from Tennessee.
Tatum played his high school football about an hour away at Daytona Beacah Mainland High. UCF added three tight ends for the 2020 class on Wednesday, snagging signatures from Venice High’s Garrett French, Winter Park Trinity Prep’s Max Holler and Sacramento City College’s Zach Marsh-Wojan.
French is a UCF legacy as his father Troy played for the Knights in the 1980s. Holler is also a legacy with his brother Alec already at UCF as a redshirt sophomore.
Only one of UCF’s pledges from Wednesday came on defense, with defensive back Emmanuel Appiah-Takyi coming from Monroe Community College in New York.
In addition to the tight end trio and the aforementioned transfers, the Knights received two local pledges as well as going out west to snag another quarterback.
With the injuries that plagued UCF’s quarterback group during the past one-plus seasons, dating back to star McKenzie Milton’s gruesome leg injury against rival USF in late 2018, Heupel went after another quarterback to prepare for the future. While Milton is still recovering from the injury, UCF saw true freshman Dillon Gabriel become the starter after Darriel Mack Jr. was injured prior to the 2019 season opener and Notre Dame transfer Brandon Wimbush switching to a new role as a wide receiver during the ‘19 campaign.
All that led to getting Parker Navarro, who completed 64.2 percent of his passes with 29 touchdowns against six interceptions as a senior at Desert Vista in Phoenix, Arizona.
UCF’s two high school signees included wide receiver Stephen Martin from Bishop Moore High in Orlando and kicker Riley Stephens from Orlando’s Doctor Phillips.
Martin had 35 receptions for 648 yards and eight touchdowns
