Want to buy beer or win at Florida Gator games? Now you can at these events.
Alcohol sales on SEC college campuses received a jolt during the 2019 Spring Meetings, when a vote suddenly allowed each individual school to make its own decision on whether or not to sell alcohol on campus during athletic events.
On Thursday, the University of Florida took the first step when the Gators announced plans to sell alcohol at limited concessions during baseball, softball and lacrosse games.
Depending on how the trial program works out, fans could see alcohol in the Swamp during football season sooner or later.
Here’s a breakdown of the limited alcohol sales announcement from the Gators:
- Alcoholic beverages will be sold and dispensed only at designated stationary locations.
- Alcoholic beverages will not be sold by vendors within the seating areas.
- Identification check will be required at every point of sale to prevent sales to minors.
- Alcoholic beverage sales are limited to beer and wine only.
- Fans, with valid legald IDs, will be permitted to buy a maximum of two drinks at a time.
- Alcohol must be dispensed into cups.
- Safe server training and additional training for staff to handle high-risk situations is required.
- Sales and distribution of alcohol will stop at the start of the end of the top of the seventh inning for baseball, end of the top of the fifth inning for softball and at the 15-minute mark of the second half in lacrosse.
