FIU baseball opens season with 9-2 loss at Ole Miss
In front of the largest Opening Day crowd in the 68-year history of Ole Miss baseball, FIU allowed five early runs Friday and lost its season opener 9-2 to the No. 24 Rebels at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi.
With the help of two Panthers errors, Ole Miss scored one run in the first inning and four more in the second to take control in front of 10,129 spectators.
FIU starter Andres Nunez lasted just four innings, allowing six hits, five earned runs and three walks.
Saturday’s game starts at 2:30 p.m. and the series concludes Sunday with a 1 p.m. game.
