While a dropoff in turnovers could be expected from 2014, when FIU ranked among the nations leaders with 33 forced turnovers and a +11 turnover margin, this fall seems much more precipitous than anticipated.
FIU goes into the regular season finale with 15 turnovers gained. That’s the third fewest in Panthers’ program history. The only two years worse were the 1-11 2013 season and 2004, both of which were 14-turnover seasons. The Panthers have two defensive touchdowns this year after six in 2014.
But FIU does have a +3 turnover margin, which would be the sixth season on the good side of that statistic for the Panthers.
