FIU Panthers’ Alex Gardner to miss upcoming games
FIU’s leading rusher, freshman Alex Gardner, will miss the Nov. 1 Rice game and is “very doubtful” for the Nov. 8 game at Old Dominion, FIU coach Ron Turner said Wednesday.
Gardner became the first true freshman in FIU history with three 100-yard rushing games during Saturday’s loss to Marshall. He went over 100 yards — to 104 — on his last carry, a 19-yarder. His absence will increase the workload for junior Anthon Samuel, junior Lamarq Caldwell and possibly freshman Napoleon Maxwell.
