RB ‘very doubtful’ for next game

FIU coach Ron Turner doesn’t know how long leading rusher Alex Gardner will be out with a right shoulder injury, but called him “very doubtful” for the Panthers’ next game, Nov. 1, against Rice.

Asked for an update on Gardner, after a three-second pause Turner said, “Don’t know. It might be a couple of weeks, we don’t know. So, we'll wait and see how it comes along.”

When asked whether the injury is season ending, Turner said, “I hope not. I mean, you never know on these things. We’ll look at it later this week and see, get a feel. I don’t think so. But you never know. It’s a possibility.”

▪ FIU will practice Wednesday morning, then take Thursday, Friday and Saturday off before returning Sunday.
