Former FIU defender Greg Hickman signs with Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings snagging FIU’s 2013 defensive line coach Andre Patterson, an NFL assistant for many years earlier in his career, has worked out well for the Panthers’ two best defensive players from Patterson’s sole season in west Miami-Dade County.

The Vikings picked up defensive tackle Isame Faciane last season and kept him on the practice squad. Faciane has been flipped to guard this season.

The other half of FIU’s middle defensive line from 2013, Greg Hickman, was signed Friday. Hickman was signed and cut in training camp by Detroit in 2014, then played in the Canadian Football League with Winnipeg.

▪ Sunday morning’s practice has been moved to Sunday night and will be as close to a scrimmage as FIU’s done thus far in camp.
