FIU’s former coaching staff on football team finding work elsewhere

FIU’s former football coaching staff is finding work elsewhere.

Head coach Mike MacIntyre, fired after three consecutive 4-8 seasons, is now a senior analyst at Mississippi State.

Offensive coordinator David Yost has the same title at New Mexico State.

Joshua Eargle, who coached FIU’s offensive line, is now in charge of Texas-El Paso’s tight ends.

Zach Roper, who was FIU’s special-teams coordinator and tight ends coach, was hired by North Carolina State as an analyst.

Jay MacIntyre, who coached FIU’s wide receivers, is now the offensive coordinator at the University of St. Thomas, a Division I FCS school in Minnesota.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to call plays and start my career as an OC,” said Jay MacIntyre, who is Mike MacIntyre’s son.

In addition to those hires, new FIU coach Willie Simmons retained three coaches on defense from the previous staff: coordinator Jovan Dewitt; line coach Kenechi Udeze and cornerbacks coach Anthony Gaiter.
