FIU doesn’t just lead the nation in fumble recoveries. The Panthers live off of them. In their four wins over the last two seasons, they’ve collected 20 turnovers, 11 of which were fumbles.

Texas-San Antonio — FIU’s next opponent — has lost only one fumble this season, best in Conference USA.

▪ On the other hand, Texas-San Antonio likes to throw the ball. FIU defensive ends Michael Wakefield and Denzell Perine are tied for 17th in the nation and first in Conference USA at 0.92 sacks per game. Wakefield leads the conference with 1.4 tackles for loss per game.
