Picayune is sending two of its own to play at the highest level of college football.

Running back Dante Dowdell and defensive lineman Zavion Coleman each signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.

Dowdell, winner of the 5A Mr. Football award, stayed true to his commitment and signed with Oregon despite a late push by Ole Miss.

Coleman made his signing with Louisiana official, capping a high school career that ended with a 62-tackle season.

The two helped lead the Maroon Tide to their second straight 5A state championship this fall.

South Mississippi sent two others to the D-I ranks Wednesday. Ocean Springs’ Bray Hubbard signed with Alabama and Moss Point’s Jamarious Brown signed with Ole Miss.
