Miami Hurricanes pitcher Enrique Sosa out with shoulder injury
University of Miami starting pitcher Enrique Sosa, a 5-10, 180-pound right-handed senior, has a tear in his pitching shoulder and is out indefinitely while he rehabilitates. Sosa, from Panama City, was UM’s No. 3 starter last season, recording a 7-5 record and 4.35 ERA in 80.2 innings.
Canes baseball coach Jim Morris confirmed on Tuesday, media day, that his starting weekend rotation would be filled by all lefties: Senior Thomas Woodrey in the home opener against Rutgers at 7 p.m. Friday; 2015 Louisville Freshman All-American Michael Mediavilla at 7 p.m. Saturday and junior Danny Garcia at noon Sunday.
“Battling” for the mid-week starts, Morris said, are right-handed freshman Andrew Cabezas of Coral Gables High and right-handed sophomore Jesse Lepore of Beverly Hills, Florida.
