LB Zach McCloud decommits from Hurricanes’ Class of 2016

Lantana Santaluces High outside linebacker Zach McCloud decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday evening, becoming the fourth player in the past week and fifth since Al Golden was fired to pull his commitment from the Class of 2016.

McCloud, rated three stars by rivals.com and four stars by 247sports, posted this note on Twitter: “After careful consideration and talking things over with my family, I have decided to re-open my recruitment. While I did not commit to Miami for any coach, I can’t overlook the current situation especially considering my early graduation.

“It seems like a shot in the dark and I’m not going to gamble with my future. I love Miami and appreciate everything that the school has done for me. No matter where I go I’ll always be a U fan. However I have to put my feelings for the school, coaches and recruits I’ve met on hold while I take time to make the biggest decision of my life. The door is not closed on Miami, but me and my family have decided this is best for now.

“Thank you for all your time.”

McCloud’s offers include FSU, UF, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Notre Dame.
