Hurricanes running back Joe Yearby said this week that the reason he initially committed to Florida State was because of former FSU offensive coordinator James Coley — and the reason he switched his allegiance to Miami was also Coley, UM’s current coordinator.

Coley said he met Yearby as a sophomore when he attended the FSU football camp.

“Sometimes you go to camp and watch guys and they’re great athletes and in camp their minds are somewhere else,” Coley said, noting that Yearby was different.

“He’s not a guy that you’re going to find in a meeting dozing off and I have to say, ‘Hey, stand up!’ or ‘Hey, look at me!’ He’s freaking on you the whole time focused.’”
