Miami Hurricanes senior Clive Walford was named John Mackey Tight End of the Week on Wednesday for his performance in the 47-20 victory against North Carolina.
The 6-4, 258-pound Walford, from Belle Glade, had a game-high 89 yards and two touchdowns on six catches.
Earlier this season, Walford was named to the Mackey Award’s 2014 Midseason Watch List.
“Very unselfish,” coach Al Golden said of Walford. “He is finishing blocks really well. … The other area where Clive is really showing success is with his avoidabilty, or his run after catch. He’s making people miss now for a big guy. If he can continue to add that element to his game he can go to another level.”
