Four Miami Hurricanes players honored
Three Hurricanes were named Players of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday, and another was honored as a Butkus Award semifinalist.
Tailback Duke Johnson earned Offensive Back of the Week honors following his career-high 249-yard rushing performance at Virginia Tech.
Shane McDermott, a 6-4, 296-pound senior center, earned Offensive Lineman of the Week, anchoring a line that paved the way for UM’s 364 rushing yards. McDermott had three pancake blocks.
Jermaine Grace, a sophomore linebacker, earned Co-Linebacker of the Week. Grace had four tackles, a sack and a pair of fumble recoveries.
Also on Monday, senior linebacker Denzel Perryman was named a Butkus Award semifinalist. The award goes to the outstanding linebacker in college football at season’s end.
▪ Coach Al Golden said right tackle Kc McDermott (knee), will miss the rest of the season.
