While South Floridians watch the constant updates on Tropical Storm Erika, the University of Miami has made contingency plans for its annual CanesFest fan celebration, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday outside at Greentree Practice Field, Cobb Stadium and the UM Sports Hall of Fame.

If it rains, UM confirmed that the event will be considerably scaled down, and football players would sign autographs from 4 to 5 p.m. inside the Wellness Center’s “Centre Court” — one of the center’s indoor basketball courts.

Football coaches will sign autographs in the lobby of the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence.

Fans who want to get football autographs must pick up a voucher to gain access for the autograph session. In case of rain, vouchers will be distributed from 3-3:45 p.m. at the Wellness Center, 1241 Dickinson Drive, Coral Gables, 33146.

The UM Sports Hall of Fame, adjacent to the Hecht Athletic Center, still plans to remain open from 3 to 7 p.m.

If the weather is clear, the event will be held outside at Greentree Field, where autograph vouchers would be available from 3-3:45 p.m. In that case, the interactive games and other activities involving other UM sports would continue as usual.
