UM receiver Toney front and center on EA sports video game cover
After a record-breaking true freshman season, University of Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney is standing front and center on the cover of EA Sports College Football 27.
The Miami native stands in the middle flashing the Hurricanes’ trademark “U” between Oregon quarterback Dante Moore and Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy.
Last season, Toney led the FBS with 109 receptions while setting a Miami single-season record with 1,211 receiving yards and catching 10 touchdowns.
The former Plantation American Heritage star made an immediate impact in Miami’s season opener as a 17-year-old, hauling in six receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown during the Hurricanes’ 27-24 win against Notre Dame.
The ACC Rookie of the Year rose to the occasion as the stakes grew, scoring four touchdowns throughout the College Football Playoff.
During Miami’s 27-21 loss to Indiana in the CFP National Championship Game, Toney caught a game-high 10 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
The former American Heritage quarterback also made an impact through the air, tossing two touchdowns while completing four of six pass attempts for 82 yards.
Last year’s cover also featured a South Florida native coming off a dominant true freshman season, with Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith from Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna High School standing alongside Ryan Williams, another true freshman standout.
The cover features Toney wearing his new No .1 jersey after spending his freshman season in No. 10.
