Miami Lakes will be inducting their sports Hall of Fame class on Saturday that will include Miami Hurricanes legend Don Bailey Jr. and longtime Columbus baseball coach Joe Weber.

The free ceremony will take place on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Miami Lakes Optimist Park Clubhouse, located at 6411 NW 162nd St.

This year’s class will also include former Goleman basketball standout Karyna Cid and Rivers Demby, who is credited with being one of the founding fathers of the Optimist Club of Miami Lakes back in the late 1960s.

Bailey, Jr., who played football at Hialeah-Miami Lakes High, and later at UM was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1983. After his playing career, he became one of the radio voices for the University of Miami football team for multiple decades.
