The University of Miami opened its college football season with a marquee matchup as the 10th-ranked Hurricanes beat the sixth-ranked Fighting Irish 27-24 at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night.
It was Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal’s first victory against a top-10 team as Miami’s coach, and Miami’s first win against a top-10 team since 2017.
Both teams have aspirations to reach the 12-team College Football Playoff in January, with the championship game at Hard Rock Stadium on Jan. 19, 2026.
