Miami Hurricanes book more portal transfer visitors. Where things stand

Two former West Coast-based cornerbacks and a standout FIU receiver headline the list of transfer portal players expected to visit UM this weekend.

As initially reported by 247 Sports, Washington State cornerback Ethan O’Connor is visiting UM’s campus this weekend after a redshirt freshman season in which he intercepted four passes and returned them for 84 yards, including one for a touchdown.

O’Connor, who visited Oklahoma earlier this week, allowed 32 receptions in 62 targets for 406 yards (12.7 per reception) and three touchdowns in 2024. Coupled with the four interceptions, that equates to 62.7 passer rating in his coverage area, which is very good.

The 6-1 corner was a three-star prospect out of the Anaheim area in 2023.

Former Arizona cornerback Emmanuel Karley, another three-star Class of 2023 prospect from a California high school, also is visiting UM this weekend, per multiple reports.

Karnley, who visited Mississippi earlier in the week, this season permitted 22 receptions in 43 targets for 288 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions, which equals a 103.6 passer rating in his coverage area.

He had 16 tackles in 2024 after redshirting in 2023. Karnley, who played high school football in Walnut Creek, California, was rated by 247 Sports as the 98th-best cornerback in the 2023 class.

If Rivers commits, he would be positioned to replace NFL-bound Xavier Restrepo as Miami’s top slot receiver. A former no-star recruit, Rivers walked on at Memphis as a cornerback but switched to receiver when he transferred to FIU.

He led the Sun Belt in both touchdown receptions (12) and receiving yards (1,172), achieved on 62 receptions.

Also scheduled to visit UM this weekend: LSU receiver CJ Daniels, who caught 42 passes for 480 yards as a redshirt junior this season after beginning his career at Liberty.

And another receiver is expected to visit next week: Per On3.com, Georgia Tech’s Eric Singleton will visit UM next week; he visited Auburn and Mississippi this week and Texas also is in the mix.

This season, Singleton caught 56 passes for 754 yards and three TDs and also ran 21 rushes for 131 yards and a touchdown.

Scheduled for Coral Gables campus visits next week: Liberty center Jordan White, Mississippi offensive lineman Kavion Brousand and Alabama receiver Caleb Odom, who moved to wide receiver this season after playing tight end in high school. Odom caught seven passes for 65 yards as a true freshman with the Crimson Tide.

Auburn tight end Micah Riley canceled his UM visit and committed to Texas A&M on Thursday.

Miami reportedly is working on scheduling visits with a slew of others, including Utah cornerback Cameron Calhoun, Liberty offensive tackle Xavior Gray, Louisiana Tech defensive tackle David Blay and Tulsa running back Lloyd Avant.
