Miami flips under-the-radar offensive lineman from Harvard ahead of training camp
The Miami Hurricanes finished out the long offseason Monday with one final recruiting addition before training camp begins Tuesday.
On the eve of fall camp, Miami flipped Nino Francavilla from FCS Harvard to add another piece to its offensive line haul for the Class of 2024.
Francavilla, who’s currently unranked in the 247Sports composite rankings, picked up a scholarship offer from the Hurricanes on Wednesday, a day after he orally committed to Harvard. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound interior lineman is originally from Toronto and currently attends Cheshire Academy in Connecticut.
The senior worked out at a camp in Coral Gables in June and caught the attention of the Hurricanes there. They kept in touch with him throughout the summer and finally made him an offer last week. He does not currently hold an offer from any other school in the Power 5 conferences.
Francavilla is the 10th player to commit to Miami in the last two months, lifting the Hurricanes’ 2024 recruiting class up into the top 20 nationally. July was also the best month yet for Miami on the recruiting trail in the 2024 recruiting cycle, as the Hurricanes added three of their six blue-chip commits so far, including Chaminade-Madonna athlete Joshisa Trader, who’s the only five-star prospect currently committed to Miami.
Francavilla is the third offensive lineman to join the Hurricanes’ 2024 class and the second this month. Juan Minaya, a three-star tackle from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey, picked Miami back in April and three-star Blountstown tackle Deryc Plazz committed to the Hurricanes on July 7.
Although he also plays defensive tackle, Francavilla projects as a center at Miami and the Hurricanes needs one after All-American interior lineman Connor Lew flipped from Miami to Auburn ahead of the early signing period last year.
The Hurricanes now hold 19 commits in their 2024 class, six of whom are blue-chip recruits.
