Miami gets eighth transfer (on scholarship), this one an Iowa cornerback. They need him
The University of Miami has secured its eighth scholarship commitment from the transfer portal, this one a former Iowa cornerback.
Graduate transfer Terry Roberts, a 5-10, 180-pound fifth-year senior this past season, announced his decision Monday evening on social media. The Hurricanes are especially in need of cornerbacks, as five-star prospect Cormani McClain flipped his commitment last week from UM to Colorado. Three former UM cornerbacks recently transferred: Al Blades Jr., Isaiah Dunson and Khamauri Rogers.
Roberts, 22, played in five games this past season but reportedly was sidelined by an injury leading to the Oct. 22 Ohio State game. He had three starts last season and amassed 13 tackles (nine solo) with one interception and three pass breakups.
He came to Iowa in 2018 as a three-star defensive back out of Erie, Pennsylvania’s Cathedral Prep. He redshirted his first season.
Roberts finished his Iowa career with 47 tackles and four starts in 33 games played. He had seven pass breakups and two interceptions.
One transfer cornerback, UCF’s Davonte Brown, recently joined the Hurricanes and the following four-star prep prospects signed during the early signing period: Robert Stafford out of Melbourne Eau Gallie; Damari Brown out of Plantation American Heritage; and Antione Jackson out of Fort Lauderdale Dillard.
