‘State of the art’: Take a look at UM’s proposal for a $100 million football facility
Plans are in the works for the University of Miami to construct a seven-story, multimillion-dollar football facility. While the mega structure isn’t coming anytime soon, building plans will be reviewed Friday.
The university is currently looking to build the facility, dubbed as the “Football Operations Center and Garage” project, on a roughly two-acre plot of land at 1255 Dickinson Drive, according to UM’s planning application.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in late 2023 and be completed in mid-2025. The facility and parking garages come with a large price tag of $100 million.
First reported by the Coral Gables Insider, it is expected to be a state-of-the-art facility that will house both the administrative side of the UM football team and player development components, such as training areas.
“The building will support student athletes and the University’s goal of recruiting the best talent in the nation,” Jessica Brumley, UM’s vice president of facilities operations and planning, wrote in the application.
It’s expected to be about 150,000 square feet, with the parking garage accommodating 600 spaces in a six-story, 200,000-square-foot space.
Some highlights of the operations center include a fitness center, dining facility, simulator room, alumni and player lounge, training facilities, recruiting lounge, player locker rooms in addition to a gaming lounge.
The application will be reviewed by the City of Coral Gables’ Development Review Committee at 9:30 a.m. on Friday via Zoom.
