Miami Hurricanes CB DJ Ivey, entering NFL Draft, leaves message to UM followers
Miami starting cornerback DJ Ivey played five seasons with the Hurricanes. He had his ups and downs, but many ups along the way, including this season as an integral defensive playmaker and team leader.
Ivey, who came to UM out of South Dade High, earned his degree, exhausted his eligibility and on Tuesday announced he will be heading to the NFL Draft, as expected.
Ivey started 11 of his 12 games this season, finishing with 38 tackles, two interceptions, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
On Tuesday, Ivey left this message on Instagram to UM followers:
“All praise due to the most high!! Very grateful to play at the University of Miami. It was an experience! I was blessed to meet and create bonds that’ll never be broken.
“I want to give thanks to my MOM for being in my corner every step of the way no matter how the circumstances looked. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, training staff, weight room staff, and whoever else I have had an encounter with at the University of Miami. I truly appreciate you guys.
“It’s been a dream since peewee football to go do what I love at the highest level possible, and it’s time for me to take that next step.
“With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
“Luvv, 8”
