The Miami Hurricanes are now up to seven blue-chip additions for their Class of 2023 in the last three weeks after adding Jayden Wayne on Saturday and Raul Aguirre on Tuesday.

Of this group, one is a five-star prospect, three more are top-100 recruits and the other three all sit inside the top 200 of the 247Sports composite rankings, too.

Every single one of these additions has been a big deal for coach Mario Cristobal and Co., but some always wind up being a bigger deal than others. On a new episode of the Eye on the U podcast, David Wilson and Susan Miller Degnan, the Miami Herald’s Hurricanes beat writer, run through the list and try to figure out which of these pick-ups is most important.

This isn’t necessarily a prediction of who will have the best career in Coral Gables or who will go highest in the NFL Draft, but rather a holistic look at what their commitments mean, how they will fit into future Miami rosters and what it signals about Cristobal’s recruiting efforts in South Florida.

The top of the list shouldn’t be a surprise: Five-star Bradenton IMG Academy offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa and Jaden Rashada, an elite quarterback from Pittsburg in California, could be two of the Hurricanes’ biggest signings ever.

The next group is open for more debate with Wayne, Aguirre, elite IMG Academy tight end Riley Williams and four-star Edison wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph all having a case.

Stick around for some talk about the Atlantic Coast Conference’s upcoming media days, too, because this will be the last episode before players and coaches descend upon Charlotte, North Carolina, to start talking about the upcoming season. Miami will be sending quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, tight end Will Mallory and defensive end Jahfari Harvey as their representatives.
