Miami flips Dillard star Antione Jackson from Georgia to kick off 2024 recruiting class

The Miami Hurricanes’ incredible recruiting week now includes their first commitment in the Class of 2024 and it’s a big one.

Antione Jackson, an elite safety at Dillard, flipped his oral commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to Miami on Saturday, announcing his new pledge on Twitter after he visited Coral Gables last weekend.

The Hurricanes, across the Classes of 2023 and 2024, have now landed five blue-chip recruits in the last week.

Jackson committed to Georgia back in March after wrapping up a visit in Athens, but was a frequent visitor at Miami throughout the spring and into the early part of the summer. Now he has a chance to be a leader in the Hurricanes’ 2024 recruiting class as a Fort Lauderdale native and one of the best players in all of South Florida.

The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back is the No. 83 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings for the 2024 recruiting cycle. He primarily plays cornerback for the Panthers and was a first-team all-Broward County selection by the Miami Herald last year after he logged 31 tackles with four interceptions.

It’s possible the good news isn’t done for the Hurricanes this weekend, either. Earlier Saturday, three-star Ocala Trinity Catholic tackle Tommy Kinsler decommitted from the Florida Gators after he spent last weekend on an official visit in Miami and the Hurricanes are hopeful they can complete the flip soon. They’re also a finalist for five-star Bradenton IMG Academy tackle Francis Mauigoa, who is set to make his decision Monday.

Both Kinsler and Mauigoa are 2023 prospects.

Jackson’s commitment comes at the end of a massive week for Miami’s Class of 2023. The Hurricanes landed elite quarterback Jaden Rashada on Sunday, Edison star wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph on Tuesday, blue-chip Melbourne Eau Gallie athlete Robert Stafford on Thursday and elite IMG Academy tight end Riley Williams on Friday. With those four commitments, Miami’s 2023 recruiting class jumped 30 spots in the national rankings.
