Miami Hurricanes baseball has risen again in the rankings.

Despite losing Sunday’s finale of their three-game weekend series, the formerly fifth-ranked Canes won the Friday and Saturday games against Pittsburgh and were rewarded Monday with a ranking as high as No. 2 by at least one of the polls used in college baseball.

UM (31-9, 16-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) rose from No. 5 to No. 3 in polls put out by D1Baseball, Baseball America and in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Miami went from No. 4 to No. 2 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll.

“We gotta stay positive and move forward,’’ UM coach Gino DiMare said after UM’s 9-4 home loss to Pitt on Sunday. “We’re coming down the home stretch here and we have some really tough games. Gotta finish strong.’’

The ACC-leading Hurricanes have won 18 of their past 21 games, including a 14-game winning streak from March 23 through April 12.

The Canes next meet Stetson at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home, followed by a three-game weekend series at the ACC’s Georgia Tech (25-16, 10-11) in Atlanta.
