Miami Hurricanes linebacker Deshawn Troutman arrested for domestic violence

Miami Hurricanes sophomore linebacker Deshawn Troutman was arrested last month for domestic violence.

Troutman, who turned 19 March 20th, was arrested on March 22nd at 2:43 p.m., which would have been after a spring practice session at Greentree Field. He was charged with misdemeanor battery.

Fox Sports radio talk show host Andy Slater first reported the news.

“We are aware that University of Miami football student-athlete Deshawn Troutman was arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department on March 22,’’ UM said in a statement to the Herald. “He was immediately suspended indefinitely from all team activities.’’

In the arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald, it states that Troutman and the victim, his girlfriend, “began to argue fiercely over their impending separation,’’ according to his girlfriend. The victim stated, according to the report, that Troutman “became enraged and began to punch her with his fists throughout her body and head, causing pain.’’

Police came and Troutman “was taken into custody without incident and transported to TGK.’’

Troutman, out of Orlando Edgewater High, played in eight games last season, his first, mostly on special teams. He was a scout-team member. He was a consensus three-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals.
