As a true freshman, University of Miami tight end Larry Hodges turned heads in 2019 when his only two catches went for touchdowns — both against Bethune-Cookman.

But that was pretty much it.

On Monday, 247Sports’ InsidetheU reported that Hodges has entered the transfer portal.

Hodges, listed as 6-2 and 220 pounds, has three seasons of eligiblity remaining. Besides the two catches, Hodges caught one other pass in 2020. This past season he played in five games, with no catches.

Hodges was suspended for the 2021 opener against Alabama and was also suspended for the previous spring game.

The Hurricanes are in good shape next season with fifth-year senior starter Will Mallory back, as well as rising sophomore Elijah Arroyo, rising third-year sophomore Dominic Mammarelli, soon-to-be redshirt freshman Kahlil Brantley and recent signee Jaleel Skinner, a four-star prospect who will participate in spring ball.

The other Hurricanes who have transferred: defensive tackle Nesta Silvera (Arizona State); center Corey Gaynor (North Carolina); receivers Dee Wiggins (Louisville), Mark Pope (Jackson State) and Jeremiah Payton (Alabama A&M); safety Gurvan Hall (Utah State); defensive end Quentin Williams (Marshall); and linebacker Bradley Jennings Jr. (Indiana).
